What is a CON29DW?

The CON29DW Drainage & Water Enquiry is the official report produced by the Water Companies of England and Wales. It provides 23 questions and answers of detailed water and drainage information about a residential property.


The Water Companies of England and Wales produce this report, as no-one else has the same depth of knowledge about drainage and water. That’s because they’re the owners and guardians of public drainage and sewer networks – so they fully understand the technical infrastructure, as well as its implications on conveyancing and property ownership.


What’s does the CON29DW contain?

The original CON29DW, launched in 2003, contained a wealth of information regarding the location of sewer and water mains, the connection status of a property, and billing information. In 2007, the search became a mandatory element of Home Information Packs, and was expanded to include additional information such as water quality and pressure, sewer flooding and proximity to sewage treatment works


From October 2013 the search was been re-ordered to make it easier for consumers and legal professionals to locate important information (See below):
